Katrina is the Sales Executive at the Event Space at CEME, part of an 18-acre Business Campus, serving London and the South East.

Katrina took a 15-minute break in CEME’s POD Theatre so that we could learn more about her.

What is your background?

“I’m an Essex girl at heart, I was born in King`s George hospital, but grew up in in Stratford and moved to Collier Row when I was twelve.
I was raised and live in a Caribbean household with my sister and parents.
My work background is predominantly hospitality and events based, I started working for a hospitality agency whilst studying. Working in a diverse array of venues from Tower London to OXO tower. after studying I worked as a supervisor for companies such as Ace Hotel, CH&CO and the union Jack club before moving to Event Sales and Coordinating Roles. All my previous Jobs have helped me gained transferable skills, which helps me with my role at CEME.

What is the most important thing that we should know about you?

I am a very friendly, confident, outgoing “people person” which is probably a good thing in a sales role!

What do you like the most about working at CEME?

My Manager, Michelle Ramsey.  She inspires me with her straight forwardness and her strong character. I feel like we are similar in the fact she stands up for herself and everyone else in our team.
I am new to this job role, however I have learnt a lot from her already and looking forward to working with her as much as I can. She is a great leader.

What is the most memorable thing that has happened to you whilst working at CEME?

The first sale I made. I remember it was the first month I started, it was a large conference which had a lot of complexity, it was a very successful event.

What excites you about the sales right now?

I am looking forward to modernising our approach as we have lots of potential at the Event Space at CEME. I am looking forward to the challenges and the opportunity to continuously improve.

What do you do for fun?

I enjoy going to the cinema with my friends. One of my favourite places is Prince Charles Cinema, Leicester Square, where you can watch an omnibus of movies, I love a good action packed movie! The last movie I saw was Bad Boys for Life, which was Hilarious.
I also crochet, making infant accessories, even on the 174 Bus to CEME. I have spent up to 6 hours a day crocheting! I would like to turn my hobby into some kind of business in the future.

What are your ambitions and long term goals in your role at CEME?

I enjoy being customer facing, talking to customers and sometimes you hear some interesting stories. It’s great to get to know different people that you would not necessarily get the chance to meet. My longer term goal is to manage a team and pass on my knowledge, learn from Michelle, grow as much as possible and hopefully become a Head of Sales.

What is the key to success?

To have transparency and be honest not only with your customers but also with your team. You’ve got to have a good communication and a great team on your side. I don`t think that you can succeed in a business without that, especially in the hospitality industry as everybody has reliance on other departments.
